PREFACE
The objectives of the practical training are to learn something about industries practically and to be familiar with the working style of a technical person to adjust simply according to the industrial environment.
It is rightly said practical life is far away from theoretical one. What we learn in classroom can give the practical exposure or real life experience no doubt, they help in improving the personality of the student in long run of life and able to implement the theoretical knowledge. As a part of academic syllabus of four year degree course in Mechanical Engineering, every student is required to undergo a practical training.
I am a Final Year Mechanical Engineering student & this report is written on the basis of practical knowledge I have acquired during the period of practical training taken at D.R.D.O. Pune.

INTRODUCTION OF D.R.D.O & A.R.D.E

Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE) is a laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Located in Pune, it is the main DRDO lab involved in the development of Conventional Armaments. It‘s mission is to equip the Indian Armed Forces with state-o-art Conventional Armaments by Research, Design, Development & technology transfer through Synergy amongst DDO, OFB/Industry, OA Agencies, Academia and National R&D Agencies, resulting in Self-reliance in this Critical Defence Technology.

History:- ARDE was established in 1958, with the goal of achieving self-sufficiency in the field of Armaments. ARDE started working from a rudimentary facility within the campus of Ammunition Factory, Khadki. Personnel were drawn from the erstwhile Technical Development Establishment (Weapons) located in Jabalpur and Technical Development Establishment (Ammunition) at Khadki. In 1966, ARDE moved to its present location at Pashan, on the outskirts of Pune, next to the National Chemical Laboratory, a major CSIR Laboratory.
